(TECH) 8 Israeli Tech Start-Ups Win Red Herrings

"Eight Israeli start-ups are on the Red Herring Europe 100 list for 2010.

The list names privately-held technology companies, arranged by region, that are judged most promising and exciting by Red Herring editors. Israeli companies are generally included in the Europe region list.

According to the Red Herring website, companies are evaluated on quantitative and qualitative criteria, such as financial performance, technology innovation, quality of management, execution of strategy, and integration into their respective industries.

The eight Israeli companies are AttracTV, BriefCam, MS Tech, SolarEdge Technologies, SundaySky, TaKaDu, Trusteer and Waze.

In January, the four Israeli start-ups Qoof, Panaya, Oversi and MiniFrame won the Red Herring Global 100 Awards, after previously winning awards in the European competition.

In 2009, three Israeli start-ups - Correlix, Promisec and OpTier - were named to the Red Herring North America 100 awards. All are headquartered in New York and have R&D centers in Israel.

The competition was first held in 1996. Past winners include Google, Yahoo, Skype, Netscape, Salesforce.com, YouTube and eBay." (source)
