(AGRI) Himachal ‘Progressive’ Farmers To Visit Israel In September

"Shimla: Dr. Avri Bar Zur, Agriculture Councillor in Embassy of Israel visited the Dr Y S Parmar University of Horticulture and Forestry, Nauni, Solan and later met Chief Minister PK Dhumal at Shimla during his recent visit to Himachal Pradesh.

Dr. Zur said that he was impressed by the setting up of poly-houses and nurseries that has been developed in Himachal and was impressed by the production in these poly-houses. He said Israel had the expertise and know how in irrigation, industrial, agriculture and horticulture sectors and Himachal Pradesh could benefit from it.

He also said experts from Israel would be visiting Himachal Pradesh in the near future to share their experiences and give live demonstrations to the farmers.

After meeting the Chief Minister at Shimla, the CM said a group of progressive farmers and fruit growers of the state would visit Israel to learn advance farming and fruit cultivation techniques from the experts during the month of September for a week.

He said that the initiative to send a group of farmers on to Israel would help them in updating their knowledge and replicate the experience back home to give new directions to the farming techniques in the state.

Dhumal said that it was due to the progressive nature of the farmers and fruit growers that apple was being cultivated in lower belts and mango in upper areas.
Chief Minister said Himachal Pradesh could benefit from the farm experts in Israel in enhancing the yield and produce better quality farm products for marketing." (source)
