Her "hero's" story reached an online media site called Bristol 24-7, where she was praised for being so brave to visit the West Bank and give her (one-sided) story...
It seems from the "hero's" story she has given, it all took place in a regular demonstration in a village called Beit Ommar near Bethlehem...
Here is her story and my response to it which is still awaiting approval by the sites admin...
"Bombs, attack dogs and demonstrations – a brave Bristol student has shared her experiences of a dramatic gap year travelling in the Middle East.
Hari O’Brien has just returned two months in Palestine and Israel, where she has been touring the notorious West Bank.
'This village has lost land to the building of a settlement, Karmei Tsur in 1987 and further land to the building of the Wall in 2006,' she said. 'About 30 soldiers went crazy attacking about 50 of us demonstrators. They used sound bombs and tear gas as weapons throwing them at us at close rang, even when we were running away.'
'First I was hit on my back by a sound bomb thrown from about five metres away and another hit my friend’s head. Later a tear-gas canister was thrown at the back of my head at close range, very hard like a rock. I had to be treated by the Red Crescent.'
'The injuries are healing now but are very painful, especially my back.'
'I also visited a town called Sawiya. It’s surrounded by settlements in the Nablus region and 30% of their land and have attacked people and property including burning a school and stealing computers. During the last olive harvest, farmers were frequently attacked by settlers including with dogs.'
'The town is struggling economically with 20% of young men unemployed. In addition 67 housing units have demolition orders, which would displace 400 and 600 people.'" (source)
My Response
Sounds like YOU only went to a protest in “Palestine” and thats about all….
What do you expect from a protest, loves, hugs and kisses when faced with soldiers? This is not Disneyland my dear!
How about reporting on your experiences in the rest of “Palestine” and also how about visiting Israel and telling our side of the story too..
Yet another one sided propagandist who thinks she is doing the world and the Palestinians a favor by going to a protest and then reporting how “bad” Israeli soldiers are….pathetic as usual!
How about standing on Israels side when Hamas are firing rockets and mortars into Israel? See how much your story changes when you are faced with REAL danger and not “sound bombs” or tear gas, get real girl!!
You anti-Israel / pro-Palestinian activists are as ridiculous as they come – You go home telling your grand story of bravery, LOL, bravery? what was so brave about putting yourself into a protest against soldiers who are not firing rockets at you or even live fire from their weapons, its not brave, its plain stupid like the rest of the “peace activists” who go there…
The 60’s are over honey, time to catch up with the times – If you want to be “cool” and “hip” and “humanitarian” then how about giving some respect and decency to OUR people who face more than soldiers with tear gas everyday…
While I admire your attempt to actually get off your ass and come here, I loathe the fact that you didnt even bother coming to Israel and writing a “hero’s” story about our side… You may as well have stayed at home and just watched it all on the television as its the same propaganda one sided crap that you experienced and have now “told the world”…
You are NOT a hero and will only be a hero if you actually gave a real damn about everyone and not just yourself and your own interests…
I hope the amount of media attention you will get from this drives you to a point of insanity that you crack one day and it miraculously opens up your heart and mind a little more to realize that you are just another pawn for the medias little game of who is more evil… Hopefully it will help you see that WE too suffer from Hamas and we too actually care about the Palestinian people who are under the control of Hamas and wish they had a better life like we do…
If you actually took the time to speak to people here, enough people at least, then you would see that we are not what you make us out to be and we do actually care about their situation but we have ourselves to protect at the same time…
Mazaltov you are now a heroin and are popular, woohoo, great for you, but WE still have to live everyday with constant attacks on our civilians and constant attacks from the retarded media who only care about the $$$ they make from their and your “great” stories…
Thanks Hari O’Brien, your name will forever be in our hearts and minds as another one sided bleeding heart hypocrite in the world…
