Less than a week before Gilad Shalit's 24th birthday, the captive soldier's grandfather released an open letter to the prime minister and warned him that every day his grandson spends in captivity is a threat to his life. 'If my beloved grandson Gilad dies in the Hamas cellars, it will be your fault,' Zvi Shalit wrote to Benjamin Netanyahu.
The grandfather on Tuesday told Ynet he decided to wrote the letter following his previous correspondence with Netanyahu, which ended with a promise by the prime minister that he would raise the issue during his upcoming visit to the United States."
