So-called liberals would have you to believe that Rauf is a moderate Muslim striving to bridge the gap between the west and Islam. He has built his career on trying to teach the west that Islam is really a good religion and the western view of Muslims is distorted. In fact, Rauf has gone so far as to say that American principles and Sharia law principles are almost one in the same.
