(NEWS) MTVNI Sends Comedy Central To Israel

"MTV Networks International is planning to unleash Comedy Central in Israel from the beginning of next year.

MTV said Comedy Central Israel will mark the tenth localized Comedy Central service worldwide and is being launched in partnership with Israeli TV and digital media company Ananey Communications.

It will be available via digital cabler HOT.

Comedy Central Israel, targeted at a core audience of 18-34 year olds, will be a fully localized, Hebrew language channel, available to over 1.3 million TV households at launch.

The channel will broadcast a mix of international and local comedy programming; from timeless classics to the newest hit series, from sitcoms to stand up, from animation to sketch shows.

Comedy Central Israel joins MTVNI's portfolio of comedy channels across the U.K., Italy, Spain, Germany, Sweden, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Hungary and Poland." (source)

My Opinion

For those of you who are not aware, Comedy Central previously released an antisemitic game called I.S.R.A.E.L (Intelligent Smart Robot Animation Eraser Lady) which is a robot sent to destroy other characters on the show. The robot is described as "having boundary issues," and destroys everything in its path, including children.

The characters, a television producer named "Jew Producer" and a murderous robot dubbed I.S.R.A.E.L, "play into and encourage offensive anti-Semitic and anti-Israel stereotypes".

"Jew Producer" and "ISRAEL" angered other Jewish groups as well. Among them was HonestReporting, which opened a page on the social networking site Facebook calling on Comedy Central to remove its "I.S.R.A.E.L. Attack game."

The game has been removed from the site and any links to the game are being redirected to the general Game page. Lets hope this is the last of this type of thing we see from them, especially now that they are in Israel...

Here is an example video clip of "Jew Producers" content...
