"Jackpot! Perhaps the sweetest words one could ever speak in say …a CASINO! Luckily enough, one casino tucked away in the middle of Louisiana will forever have a strong connection to the State of Israel.

But wait a minute, what in the world could a casino, Louisiana, and ISRAEL have in common?! The answer, while surprising, is nothing short of a perfect example of how two peoples can build a bridge of peace, understanding, and friendship between their two cultures when there are willing partners on both sides.

So let’s rewind, I promise you an explanation is coming. I have been the Press Officer at the Consulate here in Houston for almost three years now, and I would be lying if I told you that I haven’t seen some “interesting” things in the line of duty. Whether it’s a letter from a prison inmate claiming he’s Jewish and asking for the IDF to break him out, speaking with people who had a prophecy about Israel, or simply, and I’m not lying, taking a phone call from an elderly Texan giving me instructions on how the IDF needs to go about conducting a certain military operation – I’ve had my fair share of skepticism when it came to being contacted out of the blue."
