(BLOG) What's Wrong With "Jews In The Media?"

"What is there to discuss? So Jews work in the media. That should not be any more discussion-worthy than white people who work in the media or people of color who work in the media. Why should where Jews work be labeled a 'phenomenon that exists in our society?'

This is why the 'Jews control the media' myth is such a problem, and why simply saying 'there are too many Jews in the media,' leaving out the 'control' part, isn't a good enough difference to let you off the hook. Because there is an underlying message there that the presence of Jews in a given industry translates to Jewish influence on that industry. This is a message that would not appear with any other group of people in the country. One would not think that Denzel Washington would use his position in Hollywood to further 'black interests,' so why should Steven Spielberg face the same accusation?"
