Jewish organizations on Thursday urged UNESCO to cancel its endorsement of the World Philosophy Day scheduled to take place in the Iranian capital Tehran later this month.

Since 2002, UNESCO has marked World Philosophy Day with an event that brings together noted philosophers from throughout the world."

"Anti-Defamation League published list of top 10 groups responsible for slandering Israel in US.

The Anti-Defamation League published a list Thursday evening of the ten leading organizations responsible for maligning Israel in the US. Among the names is a Jewish group that claims Israel is an apartheid state.

The league also listed Act Now to Stop War and End Racism (ANSWER), which last July organized a protest in Chicago attended by 1,000 people who burned flags emblazoned with Stars of David and swastikas. Protestors also called on the US to 'stop funding Israeli apartheid'."

(NEWS) ADL Downgrades Swastika As Jewish Hate Symbol

"The painting of a swastika — that dark, ubiquitous signature of hateful vandals everywhere — is no longer automatically considered an act of anti-Semitism under new guidelines for recording attacks against Jews announced this week by the Anti-Defamation League.

The most prominent Jewish defense agency in the country, perhaps in the world, announced on Tuesday that it has revamped its guidelines for recording anti-Semitic incidents in its annual survey for the first time in 30 years, taking a more conservative approach.

'We know that the swastika has, for some, lost its meaning as the primary symbol of Nazism and instead become a more generalized symbol of hate,' said Abraham Foxman, the ADL’s national director, who was a hidden child during the Holocaust in a statement. 'So we are being more careful to include graffiti incidents that specifically target Jews or Jewish institutions as we continue the process of re-evaluating and redefining how we measure anti-Jewish incidents.'"

"Anti-Defamation League's annual report says 2009 saw 275 anti-Semitic events in California, 22% increase from previous year. New York state comes in second with 209 incidents.

California had the country's highest number of anti-Semitic assaults, harassment and vandalism incidents last year, the Anti-Defamation League said Tuesday.

In its annual survey, the ADL identified 275 events in the country's most populous state in 2009, up 22% from the year before. The incidents included a Jewish student in Buena Park getting beaten up after confronting a classmate drawing swastikas."

The allegations in his video spread globally in less than a day – a phenomenon that ADL said 'demonstrates both the power of the Internet to spread disinformation, and the ability of any individual to disseminate the Big Lie with ease.'"
