(NEWS) Nasrallah's 'IDF Rifle' Gift To Ahmedinejad Dates To '70s

"Hizbullah leader claimed present to Iranian president was taken from soldier in 2006 war; IDF says rifle went out of active service 30 years ago.

The army announced on Sunday that the firearm Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah proudly presented Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad with last week went out of service in 1974. Nasrallah himself told Ahmadinejad during the latter's visit to Lebanon that the gun was used by an IDF soldier during the 2006 Lebanon War

A photograph released by Hizbullah on Thursday showed a beaming Ahmadinejad receiving the rifle and an accompanying case from Nasrallah, a departing gift given to the Iranian president at the end of his two-day visit."

(NEWS) High Military Alerts As Ahmadinejad, Nasrallah Call For Israel's Destruction

"DEBKAfile's military and Iranian sources report: Towards the end of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad first day in Lebanon Wednesday Oct. 13, a high alert was declared in the Israeli, Syrian, Lebanese armies, the Hizballah militia and the UN peacekeeping force. The visitor was expected to further sharpen his tone and fire seriously belligerent rhetoric at Israel from the sites he is touring Thursday along the Lebanese-Israeli border.

A sign of this came in the harsh tone of the speech he delivered Wednesday night from the Al-Raya Stadium in the Shiite district Dahya district of Beirut: Ahmadinejad and Hizballah leader Hassan Nasrallah declared their common goal was Israel's destruction. The IDF, the Lebanese army and UNIFIL raised their war alert further when it was discovered that Nasrallah was not standing beside the Iranian president but had relayed his speech by videotape.

Although Ahmadinejad spent the day meeting Lebanese leaders, he was not seen to have met Nasrallah. However, our sources report that they did get together secretly in the early afternoon and coordinated their movements and actions for the next part of the Iranian leader's visit. They talked again without publicity Wednesday evening shortly before their speeches at the stadium.

The Hizballah leaders physical absence from the platform alongside the Iranian president, as though his life is in greater danger than that of his guest, is interpreted by Western intelligence circles in Beirut as pointing to Nasrallah reserving a piece of high drama up his sleeve, alarming enough to justify a demonstration of strength by Hizballah in Beirut or in South Lebanon. That is why he preferred to keep his head down Wednesday. The maneuver was almost certainly approved or even cooked up with the Iranian president.

Ahmadinejad went on to denigrate 'the Zionist entity as the embodiment of the deception of the capitalist world order and the materialistic ideas.'

He spoke of major change awaiting the world starting from 'our region' and explained: 'A resistance front has been formed by the peoples of Lebanon, Palestine, Syria, Turkey, Iran, Iraq and all the region.'

Israel's only response to the vicious attacks showered on its head from Lebanon came from an official in the bureau of Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, who said: 'The President of Iran's Lebanon visit is like that of a commander reviewing his troops - the terrorists of Hizballah who act as Iran's military arm in the region. Anyone who cares about peace and freedom must be filled with alarm by the Iranian provocation. Lebanon deserves calm and prosperity instead of which it has become the servant of Iranian aggression spearheaded by Hizballah.'

The official gave no indication of any Israeli plans to combat Iran's domination of Lebanon.
Washington's response was still milder. The White House commented that the Ahmadinejad visit to Lebanon marked his provocative behavior, while Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said it would lead to greater regional instability." (source)

(BLOG) "We In Lebanon Are Committed To Balance Of Army, People & Resistance" - What Balance?

"There is no balance between the Resistance, army and people when Hezbollah fighters use weapons against Lebanese, as in the Bourj Abi Haidar clashes last month.

Hezbollah Secretary General Hassan Nasrallah is nothing if not a gifted speaker. His silky oratory is coated with reason and leavened with words that invoke emotion and fear – the Zionist entity, the American project, sectarian division and so on. And so it came as no surprise when, on Friday, in his speech to mark Jerusalem Day, he threw out a phrase that was pitched to capture perfectly his by-now-familiar, evenhanded and level-headed ideal of how Lebanon should operate. 'We in Lebanon are committed to the balance of army, people and Resistance,' he said.

No doubt it sounded like a great idea, a harmonious social contract that smacked of positive populism, one that implied our security lay in the hands of two credible bodies: Hezbollah, with its proven martial achievements, and the army, an office of state with its own brand of non-partisan, patriotic purity. With such a mouth-watering tripartite union, could anyone accuse Hezbollah of abandoning the state?

Very easily, as it turns out. The phrase is nothing more than another serving of hot air and falsehoods. The reality, not to mention the irony, is that whatever Hezbollah does is always out of balance in a state that is supposedly founded on consensual dealings.

Indeed, where is the balance between the Resistance and the army when a Hezbollah fighter can fire on a Lebanese army helicopter, like it did on August 28, 2008, kill the pilot, Lieutenant Samer Hanna, and walk free less than one year later.

Where is the balance between the Resistance and the army when it is patently clear that the army, the military arm of the state, has no authority over Hezbollah and can never intervene or impose its will on the heavily-armed militia? The message from Hezbollah is thus: You can carry out your duty but on our terms.

Moving on: Where was the balance between the Resistance and the people when Hezbollah took over the downtown district for 18 months, as it did between December 2006 and May 2008, forcing the closure of businesses and imposing the ever-present, albeit veiled, threat of intimidation?

Where was the balance between the Resistance and the people when Hezbollah used weapons it promised us were only for fighting Israeli aggression to invade West Beirut, as it did on May 7, 2008, killing innocent civilians, including a mother and her child, caught in the crossfire?

Where is the balance between the Resistance and the people when, two weeks ago, its fighters once again turned their weapons internally and brazenly slugged it out with members of Al-Ahbash in the Beirut neighborhood of Bourj Abi Haidar as terrified residents cowered in their homes?

In fact, where was the balance between the Resistance and the people when, on July 11, 2006, Nasrallah made the unilateral decision to enter Israel and kidnap soldiers, an action that led to a month-long war and the deaths of over 1,000 people with whom there was meant to be a 'balance'?

And finally, where is the balance between the Resistance and the people when Hezbollah rejects the notion of an international court formed to bring to justice those who would seek to achieve political ends by using the bomb and the bullet and derail Lebanon’s democratic – a word, the root of which comes from the Greek demos: of the people – aspirations?

Clearly Nasrallah means nothing of the sort. Hezbollah’s weapons exist first and foremost to ensure the perpetuity of the party. They were used on fellow Lebanese in 2008 because the government sought to curb a level of influence that it felt way exceeded Hezbollah’s 'job description' as the national Resistance. Two weeks ago, despite Nasrallah’s denials, Hezbollah reacted to attempts by Damascus to clip its wings with similar firepower and contemptuous disregard for the people. Either way, the only balance the party wants to maintain is the balance of power…one that is tilted in its favor." (source)

While a senior member of his organization was being killed, Hassan Nasrallah has his sights set on a nuclear reactor – in Lebanon. "MPs say evidence displayed by Hezbollah regarding Israel's involvement in Hariri plot is circumstantial.

Lebanese leaders appear none too stricken with the 'evidence' brought forth by Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah for Israel's involvement in the murder of Prime Minister Rafik Hariri.

'He didn't convince anyone except for the production team that prepared his speech yesterday,' said Lebanese MP Mohammad Kabbara, a member of the anti-Hezbollah camp, in a statement."

(NEWS) Big Israeli Military Drill As Nasrallah Charges Plot Against Lebanese Leaders

"Hizballah leader Hassan Nasrallah accused Israel of plotting to murder all of Lebanon's political and military leaders in a speech he delivered Monday night, Aug. 9, thus going one better than his anticipated bid to pin the 2005 Hariri murder on the Jewish state.

Although he produced no evidence, his Iranian backers were at his side.

And so enough fuel was poured on the already incendiary Israel-Lebanese, Israel-Syrian borders to prompt a large-scale Israeli military exercise to start the following morning, Tuesday, Aug. 10."

"Hizbullah leader Hassan Nasrallah, in a passionate speech Monday, showed videos that he claims are proof that Israel was behind the 2005 car-bomb massacre of former Lebanese Prime Minister Rafiq Hariri. One video shows footage, allegedly from Israeli surveillance planes that flew near the site of the assassination, generally attributed to Syria and Hizbullah.

'Such footage generally comes as the first leg of the execution of an operation,' Nasrallah said in a video link, again avoiding a public appearance for fear of being targeted."

Hezbollah Secretary-General Hassan Nasrallah spoke on Tuesday in Beirut in honor of four years passing since the Second Lebanon War. His speech was made just hours after a skirmish between the IDF and the Lebanese Army on the border claimed four lives.

(BLOG) Iran Is Keeping A Tight Rein On Nasrallah And Hezbollah

"With aid from Iran, Syria has a factory producing M-600 missiles for Hezbollah. So is Assad really looking for peace?

At an undisclosed site, the Syrians have erected a factory that produces M-600 missiles, capable of hitting almost any target in Israel. According to the French newsletter Intelligence Online, the factory is a joint Iranian-Syrian venture. Iran funded construction of the site, and supplied the assembly line, the technology and the war doctrine. In return, Syria is committed to provide half of the factory's production - that is, half the missiles - to Hezbollah.

A few weeks ago, reports in worldwide media outlets indicated that Syria was smuggling missiles to Hezbollah in Lebanon, in clear violation of the UN Security Council resolution that brought about the end of the Second Lebanon War. The reports, apparently leaked by a source inside Israel intelligence, were later confirmed by the Israeli government. In truth, the term "smuggling" is incorrect. Syria transfers the missiles according to its factory agreement with Iran, but tries to hide the weapons supply from Israeli intelligence and the Israel Air Force, which have been closely following these transfers."
