The Hebron Fund, which runs an annual festive dinner for the Jewish Community of Hevron, continues its 'out of the box' dinner planning by holding this year’s event not in a ballroom, but on a ship cruising around the island of Manhattan.

'We are happy about all forms of expansion of Jewish life in what is called the West Bank,' says the Fund’s Executive Director, Yossi Baumol, 'and we condemn all the anti-Semitic attempts to block them. After much of the world absurdly supported the right of terrorists to send a ship to break Israel’s blockade on Hamas-run Gaza, we have decided to send our own flotilla, which will support peace and life.'"





(NEWS) IDF Uncovers Terrorists, Assault Rifles In PA-Controlled Hevron

"The IDF and police arrested seven Arab terrorists and uncovered a large weapons cache Monday night in Hevron, where the Palestinian Authority says it is controlling terror and has complained about Israeli interference. All of the terrorists are being interrogated.

During searches inside their homes, forces discovered two M-16 assault rifles, an M-1 rifle, a pistol, two shotguns, two sniper rifles and a substantial amount of bullets, among other weapons."





(NEWS) IDF Kills Two In Hebron Involved In Murder Of 4 Israelis

The IDF on Friday morning killed a senior West Bank Hamas operative and a low-level Hamas terrorist responsible for the the killing of four Israelis from the West Bank settlement of Beit Hagai on Route 60 in August.

IDF forces besieged several buildings in Hebron where Palestinian terror suspects were holed up inside on Friday morning, killing two of the suspects upon storming the house and arresting six others. The two dead were named as Nashaath al-Karmi originally from Tulkarm and Mamoun al-Natshe a low-level Hamas terrorist from Hebron."

"Young Arab men have targeted Jewish children twice this week in the city of Hevron. One attacker repeatedly exposed himself to young Jewish girls. He was arrested on Thursday.

Earlier in the week, an eight-year-old Jewish boy was attacked by a gang of Arab men as he made his way to school. His attackers ran off and hid in a nearby Arab school.

Instead of turning the attackers out, teachers at the Arab school gave them shelter and prevented IDF soldiers or police from entering the building to search for them. The principal also barred security forces from entering."





(NEWS) Planner Of Quadruple Murder Of Jews: Hevron Resident, 34

"The most wanted fugitive being sought by the IDF, and presumably also by the Palestinian Authority, is Nashath al Karmi, a 34 year old Hamas terrorist from Hevron. He is believed to be the person who planned the ambush in which four residents of Beit Haggai were slaughtered from close range, two and a half weeks ago.

The murdered included two women, one of whom was in her ninth month of pregnancy.

Arab sources quoted by the Bethlehem-based Ma'an news agency said Karmi was first arrested by the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) in 1999, several years after he joined Hamas. He spent three years in jail for terror activity and was re-arrested a short time after his release. He was then placed under administrative detention for another three months."





(NEWS) Knesset Committee Demands Gun Rights For Jews Of Judea/Samaria

"Following the drive-by terrorist murder two weeks ago of Yitchak Imas, whose gun was confiscated by police several weeks ago, and three other people, the Knesset Interior Committee held a stormy session today in which MKs demanded that Jewish residents of Judea and Samaria be allowed to defend themselves.

The committee, by majority vote, resolved to recommend to Interior Minister Eli Yishai and to Public Security Minister Yitzchak Aharonovitch, who oversees the police force, to ease the regulations on bearing weapons for the Jews of Judea and Samaria. The committee asked that Aharonovitch report back on the steps being taken to this end, and to investigate why the weapon of Yitzchak Imas was not returned to him in time for him to possibly use it to save his life."





(NEWS) PLO Flags Waved In Jerusalem And Hevron

"As negotiations between Israel and the Palestinian Authority are to continue on Tuesday, PA Arabs in Jerusalem and Hevron demonstrated their demand for control of the land by waving PLO flags. The flags were waved in a Jewish neighborhood of Hevron and on the Temple Mount in Jerusalem, the most holy place on earth according to Jewish tradition.

A PLO flag hung from the Al-Aksa Mosque on the Temple Mount for more than a day, in violation of a law that prohibits the display of flags or other symbols associated with a terrorist organization. Jews are not allowed to pray on the Mount when visiting it. Police managed to remove the banner early on Sunday morning."

In the wake of the recent terror attacks in the West Bank, Police Commissioner Dudi Cohen said while touring the Hebron area Friday morning, "September is a particularly complex and sensitive month, with diplomatic events affecting the goings on in Israel, Ramadan, the Jewish High Holidays and more.

'Therefore, we have increased our deployment in the face of the threats,' he said."

"Talia and Yitzhak Imes, murdered in Hebron-area terror attack, survived by six children. Kochava Even-Haim managed to give birth after years of trying, and Avishai Shendler only recently moved to community.

'Talia and Yitzhak raised their children with joy and modesty,' residents of Beit Hagai said on Tuesday. Four of the settlement's residents were killed in a shooting attack near Hebron, including a couple survived by six children. 'They had quit a few difficulties in their life, but they overcame it all.' The other victims of the shooting are Kochava Even-Haim and Avishai Shendler, who were in the car with the couple.

The deadly attack took place not far from home, at the Bani Noam junction. Talia and Yitzhak Imes were survived by a one-and-a-half-year-old infant and five other children, the oldest of which is 19."

Four Israelis were murdered in a terrorist drive-by-shooting attack on route 60 near Qiryat Arba, east of Hebron, tonight, August 31st, 2010. Two men and two women, one of whom was pregnant, from the nearby community of Bet Hagay, were the victims of this deadly attack.

The Commander of the Judea and Samaria Regional Brigade, Brig. Gen. Nitzan Alon said: 'We have suffered a difficult terror attack in the Judea region during which civilians from the area were killed. Firstly, I would like to express my sorrow to the families of those murdered. The terror attack, it seems, was carried out by a passing vehicle, and as far as we can tell, the Hamas terror organization is behind the attack. The investigation is still underway. We were on high alert in light of the upcoming holiday period but regretfully, we were unable to prevent the attack. We will continue to be on high alert in the area. The forces are currently searching the area for the terrorists responsible.'

Only two months ago, on June 6th, 2010, an Israeli police officer was murdered by Palestinian gunmen in a similar attack near Al Fawwar, south of Hebron, on the same route 60.

On February 2nd, 2010, an IDF Non-Commisioned Officer (NCO), Sergeant 1st class Ihab Hattib was killed by a Palestinian terrorist while stopped in his vehicle at a traffic light in the Tapuah junction, south of Nablus." (source)

"Terrorists responsible for killing policeman Sofer in Hebron Hills.

The IDF and Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) have arrested a Hamas terror cell that was operating in the West Bank and was behind a shooting attack last month in the southern Hebron Hills which killed policeman Shuki Sofer, it was released for publication on Monday.

Sofer was killed and two other policemen were injured on June 14 in the attack that took place on Road 60 near the settlement of Otniel."

"Residents of the Hevron area are concluding a weeks-long battle to save ancient olive trees next to the city. The project brought together Jews and Arabs from Hevron.

The ancient trees of Tel Hevron – some of them up to 2,000 years old – were endangered by a parasitic plant known as divkon hazayit. The plant was first discovered growing on the trees last year, and quickly multiplied, threatening to devastate the area."

"Sixty Jewish families living in the town of Pnei Hever, near Hevron, face a Sabbath without water due to Palestinian Authority water thieves. Officials at Mekorot, Israel's national water company, say they are unable to help.

Pnei Hever and other Jewish towns in the Hevron region have faced daily water theft for some time. PA Arabs drill into water pipes leading to the town every night, stealing an estimated 75% of the towns' water supply."
