(BLOG) OSU President's Israel Trip Provides Insight Into Conflict

"When President Ed Ray traveled to Israel in early July with a group of other university presidents, he was excited to talk with people on both sides of the Israeli-Palestine conflict, and learn more about the current political situation as well as to see places he’d only read about in history texts and the Bible.

What he wasn’t prepared for was the emotional impact the trip would have on him, from the power of the landscape itself to the stories he heard from those who had lived immersed in the conflict. It also helped him ease the loss of a close personal friend."

(NEWS) PA Intelligence Agent: Hamas & Fatah Plotting To Kill Fayyad

"Fatah and Hamas leaders are plotting to kill Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad because he is becoming more popular than PA chairman Mahmoud Abbas, according to a senior PA intelligence agent quoted by Arab activist and writer Fadi Elsalameen.

'Hamas and Fatah agree only on one thing: getting rid of Fayyad by hook or crook,' The agent, identified only as 'J,' told Elsalameen, who runs the PalestineNote.com web site. 'They will kill him if need be, and this is the only issue they work on together. Fatah wants the Ministry of Finance, and Fayyad refuses and threatens to resign every time they bring this up. No one has loyalty to him.'"

(NEWS) 'The Myth Of Fayyad’s PA Economic Revolution'

"A professor of the prestigious George Washington University has debunked claims in mainstream media that Palestinian Authority Prime Minister Salam Fayyad is leading an economic revolution that will help the PA become a new Arab country.

'Fayyad is not building a state, he's holding down the fort until the next crisis,' according to Professor Nathan Brown. 'And when that crisis comes, Fayyad's cabinet has no democratic legitimacy or even an organized constituency to fall back on.'

Fayyad, educated in economics in the United States, was hand-picked by the Bush administration and is widely and highly praised as a pragmatic doer. New York Times columnist Thomas Friedman wrote last week that his 'Palestinian Revolution' is 'based on building Palestinian capacity and institutions [and] not just resisting Israeli occupation.'"

(BLOG) A Letter From A Palestinian Citizen To PM Fayyad Regarding Medicine In Gaza

This is a letter translated from Arabic to English that a Palestinian Citizen sent to PM Salam Fayyad pleading not to send medicine to Gaza as it is all taken advantage of by the Ministry Of Health in Gaza.

Excuse the poorly Google translated text but it gets the point across and if you can read Arabic then you can view it in the original language for better understanding.

Subject: "Do not send medicine to Gaza"

"We know that you are sending periodically trucks loaded with tonnes of medicines to the Gaza Strip in order to be disbursed to citizens free of charge, but - unfortunately - the deposed government at the Ministry of health are taking on those trucks and sent them to the stores of their own so they take the sale of medicines precious to pharmacies and send to cheap medicines to hospitals and clinics is generally drugs are not required but I need someone must pay five shekels for each drug price!!!

Were fed citizens fed up with the actions of those coup plotters who Ingson people's lives in everything, even with their ailments, rather than that they dispense medication to patients through hospitals, clinics and medical centers are sending patients to pharmacies, private external in order to buy medicine and is usually expensive, the same medicine received by the deposed government of the Ministry of Health in Ramallah and charitable donors Arab and European countries!!

Another point, Mr. Minister Salam Fayyad ..Hamas members were distributing medicine (Eratin), which you send to their personnel and their family members even if they are not patients that it exploits the material they start selling it to private pharmacies ..

Citizen, Mr. Prime Minister, Madam Minister of Health to live in difficult circumstances and find it helps to receive the drug, let alone things in life other, let alone to prevent the dismissed government to deal with health insurance issued from Ramallah forcing the citizen the patient to go to private clinics which are offered citizen from vein to vein in the end the patient regardless "prescription" medicine from foreign pharmacies that will be spent in turn medicine at exorbitant prices, the same medicine sent from you to distribute it free of charge to patients with the sector.

I hope you Dr. Salam Fayyad, Loya Dr. Fathi Abu boiled Please do not send medicine to the Gaza Strip... But more and more a source of theft and looting, to those who promote Islam and national levels.

Suffice it to God and yes, the agent

Citizen"
