Tel Aviv Bus Apartheid....NOT!

I originally published this article on Israellycool blog.

Well there I was minding my own business, as you can see, and then out of nowhere, all my childhood memories of Apartheid appeared before my very eyes. Right there I froze, finger on trigger (camera), tears filling my eyes and no tree close by to hug. At first I didn’t know what it was but then I realized that I am witness to the Israeli Apartheid that BDS has been talking about for so long now. I was lost for words, until now of course and well I decided I need to show the world how well the Apartheid system in Israel is doing.

Excuse my tourettes but #BDSfail!!!!

(NOTICE) News Cottage: Highly Antisemitic & Racist Blog Removed - UPDATED!

UPDATE: This anti-Semitic hate blog has been removed!

Original post date of this article: 28th October 2010
For a few months now I have been monitoring certain antisemitic websites and blogs to see how far they are willing to go with the type of content they deliver to their naive and ignorant audience.

So far only a few, that I have managed to find, stick out as much as "News Cottage". The author of the site, Bobbi Lea, writes daily articles relating to Jews and black people but always portrays them in the worst possible way imaginable.

The sites makes people believe it is a real news source but it is far from that.

FightHatred.com quotes "The website features the common theme that Jews are the source of all of the world's troubles. The website blames all Jews from the 'brutal murder...of Christ at the hand of the Jews.'"

Her website quotes "Bobbi Lea is a Survivor Descendant of the Physical Death of Almighty God - the brutal murder upon YAHWEH the Christ at the hand of the Jews. The Jews murdered Him in cold blood without a cause under their Jewish anti-Christ laws admitting to, and claiming this act of terrorism upon themselves and their children, who God Himself said were Devils. But, to the true children of Jacob-Israel (Anglo-Saxons) and their outright rejection of YHVH the Christ, the United States of America (the New Jerusalem) must suffer the plundering and punishments of their disobedience, for failure to uphold the Law, and serving false gods, as well as allowing the encouraged Jewish genocide of 'mongrelization' upon the Lost Sheep of the House of Jacob-Israel, being exterminated, race-mixed out of existence."

She claims to not be a part of any group or organization "but under the direct Command and Leadership of Almighty God, YAHWEH the Christ".

Examples of her distasteful articles include:

The list goes on a mile long!

So I have been in contact with the Simon Wiesenthal Center once again, the same people who help me with the removal of antisemitic troll accounts and antisemitic pages from Facebook such as the "Kill A Jew Day" & "Burn A Jew Day" events that occurred pretty regularly until we managed to deter them from creating anymore due to the rapid removal of these events.

I have informed the Simon Wiesenthal Center of this antisemitic & racist blog and they will be helping me by looking into whether they can have this site removed from Google's servers. I do hope that Google will agree to have it removed as the amount of antisemitic & racist incitement it creates is beyond disgusting. I will certainly keep everyone informed of the progress of this request.

UPDATE: This anti-Semitic hate blog has been removed!

UPDATE: So far Google are only willing to show a warning message, like the one below, before entering the antisemitic / racist website, I am not sure if they will be removing it but I will see what I can do with the contacts I have.

Eyal Plotkin: "The Human Scale" - My 2 Cents

By Eyal Plotkin: "The 'Kameri' Theater has commissioned 'The Human Scale' to be performed in Tel-aviv – these are my 2 cents on it: (I direct my words to the creators of this endeavor; this is how this composition is written)

I have been talking to quite a few people about the notions raised in the presentation which includes coworkers, friends and even someone dear to me who had lost someone dear to them in an “abhorrent act”; that by itself already makes the purpose of 'The Human Scale' known and its affects evident.

When you hide behind the facade of the stage, you have the luxury of relinquishing any factual basis to your words so throwing numbers around is automatically believed without question (by some), which serves the angle in your case: I think you try to paint a picture of balance, of a common problem the Palestinians and Israelis share in this conflict of hatred but what comes across in the end, to me, is an imbalance of forces which puts Israel once more in the seat of 'the evil one'.

I thought the presentation about the conflict suffers from the same media oscillation on a world scale, it is a Macro Vs Micro really: the suffering on both sides is great – it just always looks like we are causing more damage intently.

We (Israelis) need to deal with an unknown enemy which uses its civilian buildings as military encampments while they (Palestinians) need to take back what was lost during a war which was started by their brethren who, now, want nothing to do with them.

In a densely populated area, which is so small; while keeping in mind the need to blend in, I don’t blame them (I would expect these are some of the cores to guerrilla tactics) – but it’s residue after effect reverberates in the world media and we become Goliath instead of David.

It is no news that their civilians, (I say civilians but really they are subjects) are being subjected to all sorts of brain washing with the sole purpose in mind to create new warriors in the name of Islam and word of Jihad – a proof of that you’ve shown when you presented children’s shows that perpetuate that same cause.

It is also not a big secret that we are stronger, we have a bigger army – better weapon technology, which (I’m assuming) its research is being fueled by Americans for reasons of your choosing, as better ways to kill a man are always a welcome commodity in warfare. Point being, we are using the smallest weapons you can use but when it comes to kill or be killed what would you tell a soldier who’s being shot at by a sniper from the third floor of a school when children are hiding on the second floor? What would you do?

The R&D capabilities of our country and its relations to the Americans would also explain the American aversion at stepping in, with the virtuous purpose and intent at changing the status quo.

What would you have us do, equip all our soldiers with Paintball guns? – We all know how that turned out on the 'Mavi Marmara' - Next water balloon grenades, and origami knifes.

On the other hand, I do believe that we need to be the better entity here; we need to do something extreme that would prove our intent at peace especially as the anvil of democracy hammers at the Muslim community – this is our time to shine but we are missing it and we are doing nothing about it.

As to the way you chose to receive feedback: the afterhours debate is scheduled at a very poor hour, when you actually want feedback, when you actually want to listen to people – you give them more than 30 minutes of time and you don’t bicker on how they should ask the questions, you give them space and you listen.

I thought the debate was the most important part of the presentation, but it felt it wasn’t your main agenda in how it was given attention.

The presentation was conducted in a Democratic society with people in a higher demographical and socioeconomically state, which albeit ensued response doesn’t really hit the ears of the people that are feeding the reciprocal rage that is going on – they are comfortable with their lives, wouldn’t count on them to do anything than speak about it over cocktails and shrimp.

Ask yourselves this:
  • How many people in the audience had lost someone dear to them in an “abhorrent act”, a terrorist bombing if you will?
  • How many of them were Palestinians?
  • How many of them were soldiers (Active or reserve)?
  • How would the Palestinians - a non-democratic society that brain washes their "subjects" receive you when you want to show them your piece?

Debating the purpose of this presentation as being good or bad is irrelevant – it is important at inciting talk and the exchange of ideas, which in itself is something that in my view would be almost illegal to contain and is obligatory to spread.

I would be really intrigued to see how the presentation pans out in a room parted by Palestinians and Israelis, the debate after the show on that would be fascinating.

When the ripples caused by the boulder of freedom that hit the Muslim world find their way to the shores of Gaza, I hope they will amount to no more than the foam of democracy rather than a tsunami of bigotry." (source) -Eyal Plotkin

(NEWS) British Politician: ‘Israel Is The Root Cause Of Terrorism'

"Liberal Democratic peer asks why world allows Israel’s treatment of Palestinians to continue – 'Is it Holocaust guilt?'

In the second attack on Israel by Liberal Democrat politicians in the same week that the party’s leader said the party got it wrong on Israel, Jenny Tonge claimed on Friday that Israel’s treatment of Palestinians is the root cause of terrorism worldwide.

Possibly 'Holocaust guilt' allows this treatment to go unchecked, Tonge said, adding that it might also be the 'power of the pro-Israel lobby' in the UK and US."

My Opinion

If Israel was never here there would still be terrorism so her statement is meaningless and it only serves her own agenda to show the Islamic world that she supports them either out of fear or our of respect to them. Israel is certainly not the root cause of terrorism, do not delude yourself by believing what a politician has to say.

(BLOG) Beware Of Anti-Israel 'Max Blumenthal'

I would like to make everyone aware of Max Blumenthal who is an American liberal investigative journalist, columnist, documentary filmmaker, and political blogger.

While his intentions may seem positive and balanced, his actions prove otherwise.

He generally goes around interviewing unsuspecting people about issues in Israel regarding the Palestinians or Israeli Arabs and gives off the impression that he is a Zionist supporter of Israel which then gains the trust of these unsuspecting people who are usually teenagers or intoxicated youths that would say anything he leads them to say. He is not your friend and definitely not a friend of Israel in the least...

While claiming to be liberal he constantly proves more of a strong leftist view on things as all of his interviews are only one sided. He only interviews Zionist Jews whether Israeli or foreign, not once have I seen him interview the local Israeli Arabs or Palestinians in order to have a balanced view on what the youth of Israel think of each other and the situations here...

I urge each and every one of you to avoid this low-life as much as possible if you ever run into him in Jerusalem. Do not fall for his "I am a Jew also" statement as this is meaningless, just because he is a Jew does not mean that he is on your side or supportive of Israel at all. He is far from being a supporter of Israel...

Below are some examples of his far from balanced reporting while only using footage from a few unsuspecting people that he manages to get to say the things he really wants them to say in order to make Israel, Israelis and Jews look racist in the eyes of the world...

Note that most of the Israel supporters speaking are not exactly an example of how the majority of Israeli's are at all. He finds drunk American & Israeli youths who will say absolutely anything, usually out of context or just for fun but to him this is how Israelis and Zionists are. Whenever he shows an Arab being interviewed, they are only sober adult protesters at a rally, never in the comfort of their own neighbourhood saying the things they really want to say which would most likely be very similar to what some of the Zionists are saying. He of course would never show these people in his videos anyway as it would ruin his intention to make Israel look bad and make Israeli Arabs seem like saints...

While this may be the view of some people here, it certainly is not the general view of the majority...

This is not fair reporting at all! Please do not ever give this low-life the time of day, rather give him a piece of your mind if you have the opportunity and film it to show all the important footage that he hides from everyone.

(NEWS) 'IDF Didn't Offer Medical Treatment During Flotilla Raid'

"Israeli-Arab who was aboard the 'Mavi Marmara' when it was boarded by Israeli Navy says passengers were left bleeding, Zoabi's pleas for treatment rejected by soldiers who stood, talked.

Two Israeli-Arabs who were aboard the Turkish Mavi Marmara testified before the Turkel Commission on Monday, and recounted their experiences during the May 31 Navy interception of the Gaza-bound vessel.

An Israeli-Arab, Muhammad Zaidan, who was aboard the Mavi Marmara when it was overtaken by the Israeli Navy, told the Turkel Commission on Monday that Israeli soldiers refused to offer treatment to wounded passengers on the boat for at least one hour."

My Opinion

What an outright lie!!!

Please click here to see the video which clearly shows that the IDF were in fact offering help and Zoabi had no interest to convince the injured to go with them, the injured also declined the offers to be taken to the hospital... They were not just standing around talking as Zoabi claims!!

(NEWS) PA Legislator's New Math Updates Number Of Virgins For ‘Martyrs’

"Palestinian Authority Hamas legislative Speaker Ahmad Bahr has updated from 72 to 2.5 million the number of virgins waiting for 'martyrs' upon their arrival 'in the Garden of Eden.'

In a recent speech translated by the Middle East Media Research Institute (MEMRI), Bahr, who is the speaker of the Palestinian Legislative Council, said the 'palace' where the virgins are waiting can be entered 'only by prophets, by the righteous, and by martyrs.'"

My Opinion

Why do they have a limited or specific amount of virgins?

Because it is a lie

They only say a specific number because it is psychological and therefore more believable... If you say you will have an infinite amount of virgins then it is less believable as the person needs to be able to imagine the virgins waiting for him, you can imagine 72 very easily, it is possible to imagine 2.5 million also, although might strain your brain a bit but we as humans cannot imagine something infinite, it does not sit well with us...

Our brains do not have the capacity to imagine anything infinite or eternal and they know this, so the only way to convince someone is to provide them with an imaginable number...

This way the person can sit and obsess over his prize waiting for him and even picture them individually perhaps which then makes the action required to get these things even more urgent...

Who ever invented this fairy tale of course knew what he was doing, very smart with manipulation of people by use of basic psychology and disguised with a Godly motive, so they believe it even more... If God says you will get this then it must be true right??

These people have mastered the art of mind manipulation but fortunately it only works on the ignorance of people, people who are usually desperate, uneducated, unintellectual etc, it is very easy for them to believe this fairy tale when they have nothing...

The problem is that too many people in the world fit into this category including people you might know...

Another simple analogy is if these people believe they will receive 72 or however many virgins when they move on to "paradise" for an ETERNITY, eternity being the main word here, then what happens when the clearly horny martyrs are finished with their virgins, what then?

After all its an eternity, I would think that is hell...

If I get 72 virgins for an eternity, lets say it takes me 72 months to have my way with the 72 virgins, then for the rest of my eternity in "paradise" I have no more virgins, this would be seriously depressing dont you think or is just a load of hogwash in the first place perhaps...

There is no logic in this propaganda they fabricate to control their people...

Even if they get 20 million virgins, this will still not last them an eternity, so what is the point of having so many virgins if it makes no difference anyway...

Anyone who is willing to die for any amount of virgins, meaning they are dying for sex, show they are that desperate to have sex with underage girls, because this is what they would be, underage, this is sick! Dying for sex is sick too!!!

Talk about desperation!

(NEWS) Gaza's Elite Enjoy Riding At Faisal

"Riding club on edge of Gaza City is booming, despite Israeli economic blockade, with horses imported through border tunnels.

On a Friday evening on the edge of Gaza City, the tables at Faisal are beginning to fill up.

A group of young women wearing brightly-patterned headscarves and high heels beneath their jilbabs order ice cream and fruit cocktails; elsewhere men are puffing on water pipes.

But the main attraction is not the company, the menu, nor the refreshing evening breeze that blows off the nearby Mediterranean coast. People come to watch the horses."

My Opinion

So much for poverty stricken Gaza! They have Elite people living there, and all along we thought there were no rich people living there thanks to Israel...

Hmmm, that makes me wonder, why dont the Elite help their own people then??

Oh I know why.... they don't need as much help as people claim they do.

(NEWS) Free Palestine Movement Plans To Send Plane To Gaza

"Channel 2 reports that organization to send aid to the Strip without flying over Israeli or Egyptian airspace; group says success based on not showing threat.

The California-based 'Free Palestine Movement' has announced that it plans to send an airplane filled with aid to Gaza, Channel 2 news reported Sunday.

According to the organizations website activists plan to 'challenge the Israeli blockade of Gaza by air.'"

My Opinion

A quote from their website says, "An aircraft cannot be boarded while in flight..."

My response: "Yes but it can be shot out of the sky if it violates the law here whether it passes over Israel/Egypt or not..."

It just shows the level of intelligence these people have and also shows their suicidal intentions... They would give anything to make Israel look bad, including their own lives... Sad & pathetic really!

If their cause was truly required and truly just then I would commend them, but their cause is not humanitarian, it is political... If they were so humanitarian they would care about the million more people who are in truly dire need of aid, like in Africa and would use their money and resources to help them rather... Gaza has enough aid, trust me!!

I therefore regard this movement as a "scum movement" as their hypocritical purpose has no better words to describe them other than scum!

(NEWS) Zoabi: Calling Israel A Jewish State Is Racism

"In a recent interview she made to a website identified with the Palestinian Authority, Knesset Member Hanin Zoabi (Balad) said that she does not represent Israel, but rather represents a struggle that does not recognize Israel as a Jewish state.

Speaking to the website Elaph, Zoabi said: 'Our voice is painful to the Israeli public on national issues, because it feels we are a threat to the state. Therefore, when we demand national rights, we threaten the Jewishness of the state. It's true, but it's not my problem, this is the problem of the racist definition of the state (of Israel) as a Jewish state.'"

My Opinion

Well if calling Israel a Jewish state is Racism, then calling any Arab country an Islamic state is also Racism, deal with it!

(BLOG) Pro-Palestinian Bristol Student, Hari O’Brien, Returns From Palestine "A Hero"

Recently a Sea Mills, Bristol student, Hari O’Brien, returned from "Palestine" after a 2 month tour of the West Bank with the International Solidarity Movement (ISM) as a part of her gap-year travels from her university SOAS, where she will be studying Anthropology and Arabic...

Her "hero's" story reached an online media site called Bristol 24-7, where she was praised for being so brave to visit the West Bank and give her (one-sided) story...

It seems from the "hero's" story she has given, it all took place in a regular demonstration in a village called Beit Ommar near Bethlehem...

Here is her story and my response to it which is still awaiting approval by the sites admin...

"Bombs, attack dogs and demonstrations – a brave Bristol student has shared her experiences of a dramatic gap year travelling in the Middle East.

Hari O’Brien has just returned two months in Palestine and Israel, where she has been touring the notorious West Bank.

'This village has lost land to the building of a settlement, Karmei Tsur in 1987 and further land to the building of the Wall in 2006,' she said. 'About 30 soldiers went crazy attacking about 50 of us demonstrators. They used sound bombs and tear gas as weapons throwing them at us at close rang, even when we were running away.'

'First I was hit on my back by a sound bomb thrown from about five metres away and another hit my friend’s head. Later a tear-gas canister was thrown at the back of my head at close range, very hard like a rock. I had to be treated by the Red Crescent.'

'The injuries are healing now but are very painful, especially my back.'

'I also visited a town called Sawiya. It’s surrounded by settlements in the Nablus region and 30% of their land and have attacked people and property including burning a school and stealing computers. During the last olive harvest, farmers were frequently attacked by settlers including with dogs.'

'The town is struggling economically with 20% of young men unemployed. In addition 67 housing units have demolition orders, which would displace 400 and 600 people.'" (source)

My Response

Sounds like YOU only went to a protest in “Palestine” and thats about all….

What do you expect from a protest, loves, hugs and kisses when faced with soldiers? This is not Disneyland my dear!

How about reporting on your experiences in the rest of “Palestine” and also how about visiting Israel and telling our side of the story too..

Yet another one sided propagandist who thinks she is doing the world and the Palestinians a favor by going to a protest and then reporting how “bad” Israeli soldiers are….pathetic as usual!

How about standing on Israels side when Hamas are firing rockets and mortars into Israel? See how much your story changes when you are faced with REAL danger and not “sound bombs” or tear gas, get real girl!!

You anti-Israel / pro-Palestinian activists are as ridiculous as they come – You go home telling your grand story of bravery, LOL, bravery? what was so brave about putting yourself into a protest against soldiers who are not firing rockets at you or even live fire from their weapons, its not brave, its plain stupid like the rest of the “peace activists” who go there…

The 60’s are over honey, time to catch up with the times – If you want to be “cool” and “hip” and “humanitarian” then how about giving some respect and decency to OUR people who face more than soldiers with tear gas everyday…

While I admire your attempt to actually get off your ass and come here, I loathe the fact that you didnt even bother coming to Israel and writing a “hero’s” story about our side… You may as well have stayed at home and just watched it all on the television as its the same propaganda one sided crap that you experienced and have now “told the world”…

You are NOT a hero and will only be a hero if you actually gave a real damn about everyone and not just yourself and your own interests…

I hope the amount of media attention you will get from this drives you to a point of insanity that you crack one day and it miraculously opens up your heart and mind a little more to realize that you are just another pawn for the medias little game of who is more evil… Hopefully it will help you see that WE too suffer from Hamas and we too actually care about the Palestinian people who are under the control of Hamas and wish they had a better life like we do…

If you actually took the time to speak to people here, enough people at least, then you would see that we are not what you make us out to be and we do actually care about their situation but we have ourselves to protect at the same time…

Mazaltov you are now a heroin and are popular, woohoo, great for you, but WE still have to live everyday with constant attacks on our civilians and constant attacks from the retarded media who only care about the $$$ they make from their and your “great” stories…

Thanks Hari O’Brien, your name will forever be in our hearts and minds as another one sided bleeding heart hypocrite in the world…

(NEWS) Turkish FM: Israel Should Openly Apologise To World, Not Only Turkey

"Turkish foreign minister has said that the international community still expected an apology from Israel over a deadly raid on a Gaza-bound aid convoy.

Turkish foreign minister has said that the international community still expected an apology from Israel over a deadly raid on a Gaza-bound aid convoy.

'Apology is not only a demand that Turkey had voiced but also a demand by the international community. This issue is between Israel and the international community, of which Turkey is a part after all,' Ahmet Davutoglu on Tuesday told a live interview on a private Turkish television channel."

My Opinion

What exactly must Israel apologize for Mr FM?

For boarding the ship unprepared for terrorist attacks and then for having to defend themselves in a surprise attack on the commandos in which 9 terrorists were killed, not peace activists?

I think you, Mr FM, should apologize to Israel for allowing the boat to be sent in the first place!

There is no need for our apology... I would like to see a boat of these types of activists head towards Turkey or the USA and then see what happens when their soldiers are attacked and they respond in defense!

(NEWS) Zoabi: 'We Were Very Peaceful Activists, But The IDF Came To Kill'

"MK Hanin Zoabi talks to UNHRC Gaza flotilla probe , says 'the commandoes viewed all of us activists as terrorists.'

MK Hanin Zoabi (Balad) said Tuesday she told UNHRC investigators probing Israel's deadly raid on an aid flotilla bound for the Gaza Strip that its commandos were on a mission to kill.

Investigators from a UN human rights inquiry on the May 31 flotilla attack, in which nine activists died, began interviewing witnesses in the Jordanian capital on Monday.

So far, Zoabi and six others have been interviewed."

My Opinion

Yes Zoabi, you were "all" peaceful activists and the IDF came to kill, this is why the "peaceful" activists prepared weapons before the boarding of the "killer" commandos who came with paintball guns and holstered pistols...

I can see how that one is going to hold up well in court!

Good luck Zoabi! You are going to need it!

(NEWS) Zoabi To UN: Try Pirate Netanyahu In Int'l Court

"Knesset member will testify before Human Rights Council's probe investigating flotilla raid, expected to ask that it investigate 'crimes against humanity Israel is committing in Gaza'

Knesset Member Hanin Zoabi will testify on Tuesday before the UN Human Rights Council's commission of inquiry into Israel's raid of the Mavi Marmara in May. Zoabi will appear before the UN body as part of a delegation of senior Arab figures who participated in the flotilla.

Zoabi announced on Monday that she is planning to demand that the UNHRC investigate Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Defense Minister Ehud Barak, and Chief of Staff Gabi Ashkenazi, all of whom she charges with bearing personal responsibility for the 'criminal and pirate takeover' which claimed the lives of nine flotilla participants."

My Opinion

Here we go, the "piracy" card again!!

Get real Zoabi and other idiots out there who believe it was piracy...

We all know very well what piracy is, it may however appear the same but it is not, it is like comparing a human being to a monkey - we look similar but not quite hey!!

(NEWS) Egypt: 1st Nuclear Plant Site Announced

"Mubarak orders construction of nuclear plant on Mediterranean coast.

Egypt's President Hosni Mubarak has instructed the government to start building the country's first nuclear power plant at a site on the Mediterranean coast, ending a year of controversy.

Mubarak's decision puts an end to attempts by business tycoons with strong ties to the ruling family to build sea resorts on the el-Dabaa site. The whole coast is known for its attractive beaches."

My Opinion

I guess people will be wondering why Egypt will not be sanctioned to have a nuclear plant - its really simple....

They have not threatened anyones existence like Iran and Syria have...

They have a peace agreement with Israel and the US, however this does not mean they will just be ignored as you never know who the next president of Egypt will be and what his intentions will be, ie: Gamal Mubarak, the son of Mohamed Hosni Mubarak who may be of concern for Israel...

All of those wackheads out there that shout out "what gives Israel the right to be nuclear but no one else in the Middle East....blah blah blah"...

Well this is the part where they will have to take their foot out of their mouth as Israel has never said that no other country should be nuclear in the Middle East, only the ones that threaten its existence or the existence of others...

If you are one of those people then I hope you feel stupid right now for saying that or just wait and see :)

(VIDEO) The Pro-Mosque Supporters Show Their True Aggressive & Anti-Israel Colors

At a recent Pro-Mosque protest in New York, Shahid Comrade who is known to be a communist, at 3m:56s begins to make racist statements about Zionist Israel...

Prior to Comrade's speech, a few other people including Comrade, specifically stated that they oppose racism of any kind, they were very clear about this... However Comrade managed to portray the hypocrisy of left-wing activists who themselves would use racist remarks in their defense of the cause...

The cameraman who speaks out against Comrade is named "Joey Boots" or "Joey Shuli Boots" to some and even better known as Howard Stern, who is both an American celebrity and a Jew... He uses the Joey Boots character every now and then...

The video below not only shows you the rantings of hypocritical left-wing activists but also shows the aggression which they use to achieve their goals and lack of intelligence to properly discuss with him the reasons why Comrade chose to make the anti-Israel comment immediately after speaking out so strongly against racism...

(NEWS) Kibbutzim: If Israel Could Do It, So Can Rwanda

"Kigali: Through desert sands, visa lines, bus rides and the pressing patience of waiting, Natty Mitali arrived at the gates of Zion. The young guitarist had taken the bus from Cairo, dusty and hard-skinned, a journey that had begun further south, near the heart of Africa. Part of a surging Tutsi diaspora flooding home, Natty Mitali is bringing his experiences from the kibbutz to help rebuild a new Rwanda.

It had been the longest journey.

Through desert sands, visa lines, bus rides and the pressing patience of waiting, Natty Mitali arrived at the gates of Zion. The young guitarist had taken the bus from Cairo, dusty and hard-skinned, a journey that had begun further south, near the heart of Africa.

'Like the old Israelites,' says Mitali, who goes popularly by Natty Dread in Rwanda, where he is one of the country’s most famous Rastafari musicians. 'Right up to the border.'

On the other side was Africa’s first encounter with the West, and the road continuing on to Tel Aviv. While Israel is mystified in the Rastafari movement, it had special meaning for Mitali, an ethnic Tutsi. Some Tutsi believe Israel is a living, breathing ancestral brother – along with Ethiopia – where historians argue the Tutsi in Rwanda may have originally come from.

Some, like Mitali, see themselves as ancestors of Israel, and the comparisons, for them, go much further than that. The Israelites from ancient to modern had been persecuted throughout the world, and Africa had not been left alone. Natty Mitali was dusty and tired, young and full of passion, and though his eyes were steadfastly focused on the promised land in front of him, his trail of memories stayed close with him too.

It was 1983, and the world was looking dangerous. Israel had just gone to war in Lebanon. The Americans were pushing the Soviets. Mitali was fleeing problems of his own. Tensions between Tutsi and the majority Hutu were surging in his tiny sundrenched home of Rwanda.

His family had grown up as refugees in Uganda, and as tremors of ethnic violence pulsed Rwanda, Mitali moved to nearby Kenya and soon applied for an Israeli visa.

'It was my destiny,' he says.

THINGS IN RWANDA took a turn for the worse.

When the president’s plane was shot down in 1994 it sparked a genocide that in three months wiped out nearly one million Tutsi – including 18 members of Mitali’s family.

From afar in Israel, Mitali grew up, toiling as a farmhand and playing guitar at the Soweto Club on Rehov Frischmann. When there wasn’t enough money, he did like many, and took to the land. Mitali says his time working on the kibbutzim throughout the country – from Na’an to Amirim, Ein Gedi to Achziv, and Shefayim, where he met his first wife – gave him a sense of self, a sense of worth.

Now he has come back, part of a surging Tutsi diaspora flooding home with money and purpose to rebuild a new Rwanda on top of the ruins. They are the followers of President Paul Kagame, who grew up, like Natty Mitali, in Uganda before leading a rebel group to end the genocide.

Last week, President Kagame won over 93% of the vote in Rwanda’s second presidential elections. Much of that support came from the returning Tutsi diaspora from across the world who believe in the president’s vision, rather than seek violent revenge, restrain that anger and rebuild Rwanda.

On the surface, that vision – and the families, money, expertise and connections that has come with the returning diaspora – has transformed Rwanda into a shooting star of the developing world, and Kagame to spokesman status.

With a reputation for security, seriousness and sense of urgency, the new Rwanda is soaring. Fiber-optic cables crisscross the rich, pregnant earth. Foreign investment is multiplying rapidly. Investors from Israel, South Korea, Japan, Cuba, Russia and Dubai are pouring in. America is advising the army.

The Chinese are too.

And deep in Rwanda’s south, between banana plantations and tea fields, Mitali is making his own contribution, the thing that helped him through the darkest times – his own self-styled kibbutz, the Amahoro Youth and Cultural Village.

DESPITE ALL OF Rwanda’s economic progress – its economy grew by 11% in 2008, and it is considered one of the least corrupt countries in Africa – much of its countryside remains poor, and very young.

On over 15 hectares along the southern tip of Lake Kivu in between Rwanda, Burundi and the Democratic Republic of the Congo including two islands, Mitali is setting up a school for some of Rwanda’s most vulnerable – orphaned children, kids taking care of younger siblings with no one else to help, AIDS victims, and child survivors of the Rwandan genocide.

From carpentry to tourism, courses in ecology and music, Mitali is seeking to at once resuscitate life and help develop the country.

Over 70 students, in an admittedly Zionist – and Rastafari – fashion, will work, learn and live together, trying their best to live off the land.

'My time in Israel enlightened me,' Mitali says. 'Kibbutzim, collective farms, that’s how the State of Israel was born. Seeing people homeless, with no relations, no orientation, helpless in our present world, I felt the kibbutz kind of solution was the answer to the suffering.' Amahoro means 'peace' in local Kinyarwanda, and Mitali envisions a sanctuary – top-notch facilities from a medical clinic to agricultural farms, basketball courts to an eco-lodge. Students won’t just be taught in classrooms, they will receive vocational training.

The plans are coming along nicely – land has been donated by the government, a senior minister is helping advise the project, and architectural designs are being reviewed.

'We are looking forward to it,' says Fabien Sindayiheba, the mayor of Cyangugu district where the school will be. 'It will create employability for its graduates, especially for the youth.'

True to the Rwandan spirit not to depend on handouts, Mitali argues, the school will be offering something to the outside. Students will spend time mastering nature conservation and eco-tourism, hallmarks of the national development strategy. A guest house and lodge will be run by the school on one of its islands in Lake Kivu.

'We are socialist on the inside and capitalist on the outside,' says Mitali. 'The kibbutz will be a great weapon for fighting poverty.'

In many ways, Natty 'Dread' Mitali, who wears his dreadlocks down to his waist and says Bob Marley named him Natty Dread, is an embodiment of a spirit and identity that is pervasive through the Tutsi diaspora returning to and rebuilding Rwanda.

If in the world Israel has a surrogate sister, Rwanda would be it, he feels.

Like Israel, Rwanda has become a 'special country' for the international community, and a lightning rod for American financial and military support.

Like Israel, miniature Rwanda sports an influence far superior to its size. Both are surrounded by hostile, resource-rich neighbors in an insecure region. For Rwanda, too, a premium is on defense and security, and its armed forces are among the strongest in Africa. This has led to controversy on the continent, where Rwanda has been accused of supporting proxy militias in eastern Congo, both in a bid to capture genocide fugitives and also to control mineral sites.

And while both are strong allies of capitalism and American influence, Kagame’s Rwanda sees streaks of socialism. On the last Saturday of every month – unless a penalty is paid – every Rwandan performs outdoor community work called Umuganda; the grassroots Gacaca courts try genocide suspects under the shade of acacia trees; there is universal health insurance; most of the country’s prisoners serve their sentences paving roads, laying fiber-optic cables; upon completing secondary school, young boys attend Ingando solidarity camps.

'My inspirations – from kibbutzim and our old African way – is that people have collective farms, security, and responsibilities that make them strong,' says Mitali.

But the relationship goes far deeper than that.

According to historians and the government Web site, the Tutsi have been kings in Rwanda since the 15th century, when they first arrived and swiftly administered control over the more numerous Hutu.

During the colonial period under the Germans, and later the Belgians, differences between the two groups were polarized.

Noses and height were measured, skin color assessed and a racial policy was institutionalized in government. Philosophers such as Georg Wilhelm Friedrich Hegel claimed Africa was divided between 'European Africa' and 'Africa proper.' One popular theory embraced by colonial-era scientists, known as the Hamitic theory, is that the Tutsi originally came south from Ethiopia.

According to many in Rwanda, the Jews – and Rastafari – also come from Ethiopia, and the three countries form a loose ethnic alliance.

While the government downplays colonial influence and racial science as causes of the genocide, many in the Tutsi community have taken to it.

There is even an nongovernmental organization run by a Congolese Tutsi trying to find genetic evidence of the connection.

'You’ll hear people talking about the Rwandan black Jews,' says Mitali. 'We are both small countries but with very strong peoples, dedicated to our existence.'

He isn’t the first to make that connection.

In 2009, the Agahozo Shalom Youth Village, funded by Joint Distribution Committee and the Yemin Orde Youth Village south of Haifa, was opened in Rwanda’s Eastern Province. It is a sprawling complex of modern facilities including medical center, gymnasium, computer labs, wireless Internet and a sustainable farm.

'When I first learned of the terrible orphan problem in Rwanda, and that it was a direct result of the genocide and its aftermath, it immediately occurred to me that after World War II, Israel had an influx of orphans, and Israel today has no orphan problems,' says Anne Heyman, a South African-born lawyer who helped found the school.

ACCORDING TO ESTIMATES by survivor organizations in Rwanda, more than 1.5 million children were orphaned during the genocide. The first to arrive at Agahozo Shalom will be schooled in two unique educational philosophies: tikkun halev, artistic therapy, and tikkun olam, repairing the world through community service. While virtually all of the staff are Rwandan, they have been trained by Ethiopian Jews who themselves once lived at Yemin Orde after being airlifted to Israel in the late 1980s.

'The fact that [genocide] is a human condition and not singular to you, I think, gives you strength to stand up and fight it, wherever you can – it is, in fact, empowering,' says Heyman.

'The fact that Israel was where Rwanda is 50 years ago is an inspiration for a country that is now dragging itself out of the ashes of a genocide.'

'If Israel could do it, so can Rwanda.'

Rwanda differs from Israel in a most meaningful way. Some would call it an Israel 'upside-down.' Rwanda is a land where three nations of people live on top of each other – the killers, the survivors, and the victors.

While the survivors of the Holocaust were given a homeland just to themselves, the situation in Rwanda has been compared to as if Jews ruled over Germany in 1945.

'Each moment of life reminds us of the genocide,' said Domtilla Mukantaganzwa, director of the country’s grassroots Gacaca courts. 'I organized the first burial after the genocide in this country. I have been here the whole time; people were killed on every square meter.'

Though the capital, Kigali, is known as one of the safest, cleanest cities in Africa, police regularly round up street children, beggars and undesirables. While the ruling party preaches a healthy, vigorous multiparty democracy, critics say opposition parties are neutered and forced to to follow government policy. While journalists can work, there are narrow limits to what they can say. At times, reconciliation resembles a tense coexistence, a restrained compromise to not kill back.

'We forgive them now,' says Bosco Habimana, a DJ and former soldier who fought with President Kagame’s guerrilla movement that took over the country. “But let them try again.”

It takes a special sort of politics, a message that is at once silent and also a reminder.

The words Hutu and Tutsi are strictly banned from public use; to slander someone in such a way can put you in jail for decades. Yet in 2008 the constitution was amended to change the name of the genocide to the genocide against the Tutsi. Now, the word drips down from radio stations, citywide billboards and newspaper headlines.

The country is painted in national colors, patriotism is pop culture, Kagame’s face hangs behind desks. Under a sometimes intense pressure, the president urges both his government and people to stick together.

It’s a tall task. The region is unstable. While Rwanda has maintained a quiet peace since the genocide, across the border the aftereffects play out vividly. A UN-backed, Rwandaadvised Congolese military hunt for the genocidal killers has thrown eastern Congo into wild insecurity.

Mitali’s future youth village lies just nearby, across the border.

While Rwanda remains tightly secure, the long-term future hangs in an unsure balance.

But Mitali is fearless.

'At this moment it’s a little bit difficult,' he says. “But every passing day it’s getting easier. We need to preach against the hatred.

'There are good people in the world and there are bad people. We are trying to be the good ones.'" (source) (h/t ElderOfZiyon)

My Opinion

The irony of all this is that the African countries try their hardest to develop and succeed in similar ways that Israel has, no matter how poor they are compared to the rest of the world, the irony in this is that the poor Arab nations that are not even close to being as poor as Africa is, have not bothered to lift a finger over many years to improve their way of life and develop their land in the same way Israel did...

They are the laziest bunch that just sit there and complain about everything instead of taking advantage of Israel's help that would be offered in the development of their lands - they rather seek war and for some reason HAVE to HAVE Israel....

Do you honestly think the lazy Muslim Arabs will even bother developing Israel if it was theirs? They didnt do it before and still have not done it today with their own land and yet still just sit and complain to the world...

The world needs a good wake up call - you are being taken advantage of and made a fool out of by a bunch of lazy idiots who would rather sit and suffer than do something about it - Take one good look at Africa and how hard a lot of them try to succeed and then come try bitch and moan to the world about how hard your life is when you do nothing about it...

The usual excuse is "Well they have been in too many wars to try develop their land", and I say what a terrible excuse - Israel has been in those same wars against a much larger enemy non-stop , Israel developed this country while being attacked by 7 countries at the same time and still managed to overcome - there is no excuse!

If the Palestinians stopped terrorism and stopped organizations like Hamas from causing problems for them, then they will not face wars anymore, Israel would eventually help develop their lands but this will not happen until they accept Israel and move on from it.

(BLOG) Myth Of The Palestinian People

"'Palestinians doubt Blair can deliver,' announces the BBC. 'Four Palestinians die in West Bank,' reports CNN. 'IDF demolishes building used by Palestinian gunmen,' announces Israel's government run Channel 1 News. The modern media is filled with stories about the Palestinians, their plight, their dilemmas and their struggles. All aspects of their lives seem to have been put under the microscope. Only one question never seems to be addressed: Who are the Palestinians? Who are these people who claim the Holy Land as their own? What is their history? Where did they come from? How did they arrive in the country they call Palestine? Now that both US President George Bush and Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon (in direct opposition to the platform he was elected on) have come out in favor of a Palestinian state, it would be prudent to seek answers to these questions. For all we know, Palestine could be as real as Disneyland.

The general impression given in the media is that Palestinians have lived in the Holy Land for hundreds, if not thousands of years. No wonder, then, that a recent poll of French citizens shows that the majority believe (falsely) that prior to the establishment of the State of Israel an independent Arab Palestinian state existed in its place. Yet curiously, when it comes to giving the history of this 'ancient' people most news outlets find it harder to go back more than the early nineteen hundreds. CNN, an agency which has devoted countless hours of airtime to the 'plight' of the Palestinians, has a website which features a special section on the Middle East conflict called 'Struggle For Peace'. It includes a promising sounding section entitled 'Lands Through The Ages' which assures us it will detail the history of the region using maps. Strangely, it turns out, the maps displayed start no earlier than the ancient date of 1917. The CBS News website has a background section called 'A Struggle For Middle East Peace.'' Its history timeline starts no earlier than 1897. The NBC News background section called ''Searching for Peace'' has a timeline which starts in 1916. BBC's timeline starts in 1948.

Yet, the clincher must certainly be the Palestinian National Authority's own website. While it is top heavy on such phrases as 'Israeli occupation' and 'Israeli human rights violations' the site offers practically nothing on the history of the so-called Palestinian people. The only article on the site with any historical content is called 'Palestinian History - 20th Century Milestones' which seems only to confirm that prior to 1900 there was no such concept as the Palestinian People.

While the modern media maybe short on information about the history of the 'Palestinian people' the historical record is not. Books, such as Battleground by Samuel Katz and From Time Immemorial by Joan Peters long ago detailed the history of the region. Far from being settled by Palestinians for hundreds, if not thousands of years, the Land of Israel, according to dozens of visitors to the land, was, until the beginning of the last century, practically empty. Alphonse de Lamartine visited the land in 1835. In his book, Recollections of the East, he writes 'Outside the gates of Jerusalem we saw no living object, heard no living sound....' None other than the famous American author Mark Twain, who visited the Land of Israel in 1867, confirms this. In his book Innocents Abroad he writes, 'A desolation is here that not even imagination can grace with the pomp of life and action. We reached Tabor safely.... We never saw a human being on the whole journey.' Even the British Consul in Palestine reported, in 1857, 'The country is in a considerable degree empty of inhabitants and therefore its greatest need is that of a body of population...'

In fact, according to official Ottoman Turk census figures of 1882, in the entire Land of Israel, there were only 141,000 Muslims, both Arab and non-Arab. This number was to skyrocket to 650,000 Arabs by 1922, a 450% increase in only 40 years. By 1938 that number would become over 1 million or an 800% increase in only 56 years. Population growth was especially high in areas where Jews lived. Where did all these Arabs come from? According to the Arabs the huge increase in their numbers was due to natural childbirth. In 1944, for example, they alleged that the natural increase (births minus deaths) of Arabs in the Land of Israel was the astounding figure of 334 per 1000. That would make it roughly three times the corresponding rate for the same year of Lebanon and Syria and almost four times that of Egypt, considered amongst the highest in the world. Unlikely, to say the least. If the massive increase was not due to natural births, then were did all these Arabs come from?

All the evidence points to the neighboring Arab states of Egypt, Syria, Lebanon and Jordan. In 1922 the British Governor of the Sinai noted that 'illegal immigration was not only going on from the Sinai, but also from Transjordan and Syria.' In 1930, the British Mandate -sponsored Hope-Simpson Report noted that 'unemployment lists are being swollen by immigrants from Trans-Jordania' and 'illicit immigration through Syria and across the northern frontier of Palestine is material.' The Arabs themselves bare witness to this trend. For example, the governor of the Syrian district of Hauran, Tewfik Bey el Hurani, admitted in 1934 that in a single period of only a few months over 30,000 Syrians from Hauran had moved to the Land of Israel. Even British Prime Minister Winston Churchill noted the Arab influx. Churchill, a veteran of the early years of the British mandate in the Land of Israel, noted in 1939 that 'far from being persecuted, the Arabs have crowded into the country and multiplied.'

Far from displacing the Arabs, as they claimed, the Jews were the very reason the Arabs chose to settle in the Land of Israel. Jobs provided by newly established Zionist industry and agriculture lured them there, just as Israeli construction and industry provides most Arabs in the Land of Israel with their main source of income today. Malcolm MacDonald, one of the principal authors of the British White Paper of 1939, which restricted Jewish immigration to the Land of Israel, admitted (conservatively) that were it not for a Jewish presence the Arab population would have been little more than half of what it actually was. Today, when due to the latest 'intifada' Arabs from the territories under 35 are no longer allowed into pre-1967 Israel to work, unemployment has skyrocketed to over 40% and most rely on European aid packages to survive.

Not only pre-state Arabs lied about being indigenous. Even today, many prominent so-called Palestinians, it turns out, are foreign born. Edward Said, an Ivy League Professor of Literature and a major Palestinian propagandist, long claimed to have been raised in Jerusalem. However, in an article in the September 1999 issue of Commentary Magazine Justus Reid Weiner revealed that Said actually grew up in Cairo, Egypt, a fact which Said himself was later forced to admit. But why bother with Said? PLO chief Yasir Arafat himself, self declared 'leader of the Palestinian people', has always claimed to have been born and raised in 'Palestine'. In fact, according to his official biographer Richard Hart, as well as the BBC, Arafat was born in Cairo on August 24, 1929 and that's where he grew up.

To maintain the charade of being an indigenous population, Arab propagandists have had to do more than a little rewriting of history. A major part of this rewriting involves the renaming of geography. For two thousand years the central mountainous region of Israel was known as Judea and Samaria, as any medieval map of the area testifies. However, the state of Jordan occupied the area in 1948 and renamed it the West Bank. This is a funny name for a region that actually lies in the eastern portion of the land and can only be called "West" in reference to Jordan. This does not seem to bother the majority of news outlets covering the region, which universally refer to the region by its recent Jordanian name.

The term 'Palestinian' is itself a masterful twisting of history. To portray themselves as indigenous, Arab settlers adopted the name of an ancient Canaanite tribe, the Phillistines, that died out almost 3000 years ago. The connection between this tribe and modern day Arabs is nil. Who is to know the difference? Given the absence of any historical record, one can understand why Yasser Arafat claims that Jesus Christ, a Jewish carpenter from the Galilee, was a Palestinian. Every year, at Christmas time, Arafat goes to Bethlehem and tells worshippers that Jesus was in fact 'the first Palestinian'.

If the Palestinians are indeed a myth, then the real question becomes 'Why?' Why invent a fictitious people? The answer is that the myth of the Palestinian People serves as the justification for Arab occupation of the Land of Israel. While the Arabs already possess 21 sovereign countries of their own (more than any other single people on earth) and control a land mass 800 times the size of the Land of Israel, this is apparently not enough for them. They therefore feel the need to rob the Jews of their one and only country, one of the smallest on the planet. Unfortunately, many people ignorant of the history of the region, including much of the world media, are only too willing to help.

It is interesting to note that the Bible makes reference to a fictitious nation confronting Israel. 'They have provoked me to jealously by worshipping a non-god, angered me with their vanities. I will provoke them with a non-nation; anger them with a foolish nation (Deuteronomy 32:21).'

On second thought, it may be unfair to compare Palestine to Disneyland. After all, Disneyland really exists." (source)

(NEWS) Israel Wins Paralympic Gold As Iranians Refuse To Swim In Same Pool

"Israeli blind swimmer Zohar Batar joked after the 2010 WPC Swimming World Championship that she never saw her Persian rivals.

Israel added two golds to its medal haul on Saturday at the 2010 WPC Swimming World Championships in Eindhoven behind the performances of Inbal Pezaro and Itzhak Mamistvalov. During the heats, two Iranians refused to enter the pool with Israeli blind swimmer Zohar Batar, who joked afterward that she never saw her Persian rivals."

My Opinion

Thats 2 wins by default in a week period - First was the Taekwondo competition that the Iranian backed out of as his opponent was Israeli which gave the Israeli the Gold medal and now this...

It humors me that they are willing to back out of a competition against Israel instead of showing their possible dominance by trying to at least beat Israel in the competition which would give them another reason to say "see Allah was on our side again"...

My guess is that they are well aware of the embarrassment they would face if they lose against Israel in a sporting event, besides the fact that the Taekwondo champ would have most likely won anyway, we have the top fighters in the world when it comes to full contact martial arts...

I think its super childish to not want to compete against Israel due to political reasons - they could have had the chance to show us "who's the boss"....possibly... ;)

(NEWS) Lebanese Ship To Sail To Gaza

"Cypriot ambassador to Lebanon says boat will be sent back from Cyprus.

A Lebanese ship carrying aid and women activists with the intention of reaching Gaza will set sail Sunday from Lebanon despite warnings that they will not be allowed to make it past Cyprus, organizers said Thursday.

The ship cannot travel directly to Gaza from Lebanon because Beirut is still technically at war with Israel, forcing the vessel to pass through a third country — in this case, Cyprus — before heading for the blockaded Palestinian territory."

My Opinion

Attempt number....damn I lost count as to how many times this ship has been claiming it will break the Naval "siege" in Gaza... Let us see if this is the one!
